After many visits to the
Loire, we have found the 'Ritz', warm and comfortable and
for once we haven't missed our own bed! Mr and Mrs W,
South Wales
What a delightful place for a break. The beds
are wonderful, the food out of this world and the
hospitality second to none. Mr and Mrs N,
East Sussex

Vine
House is a wing of the Manor which we
believe was originally the kitchens and coach
house, now restored and converted into a
supremely comfortable, self contained holiday
home for six people. The name Vine House comes
from the wonderful dessert grapevine framing the
front of the property.
|
 |
 |
Private
parking is provided on the forecourt and
you can, of course, drive right to the front door
for unloading when you arrive.
If you need to check your emails, Vine House is Wi-Fi
enabled or if you prefer not to bring
your own, a laptop with complimentary
broadband internet access
is located in the Entrance Hall of the manor
house. |

The
ground floor with its
original terracotta floor-tiles and beamed
ceiling, divides naturally into a cosy sitting
area and a country style kitchen and dining area.
The sitting
area is dominated by the original monumental
stone fireplace with a period cast iron
fire-back.
Grouped around the fireplace are generous comfy
sofas with squishy cushions, in soft terracotta
and blue, perfect for relaxing.

Curl up with a drink, take your
pick from the selection of games, books and
magazines. If you fancy a spot of music, there is
a selection of cds for the cd player or simply
plug your iPod into the docking station on the
dresser. The flat screen tv is tuned for all the
English freeview stations and there is also a dvd
player and selection of dvds.
A door leads from here
directly onto the terrace which faces the pool
(fully alarmed in accordance with the French Pool
Safety Regulations) and has outdoor dining and
lounging furniture and a Weber kettle barbeque.

At
the other end of the room is the fully
equipped kitchen area with cooker (3 gas rings
and 1 electric hotplate plus a fan-assisted
oven), microwave, fridge with freezing
compartment and Smeg dishwasher. A butcher's
block provides additional workspace and there is
plenty of crockery, glasses etc. All items of
kitchen equipment including the knives (sharpened
regularly) have been chosen by the cook, for
quality not economy.
The huge windows front and back flood the area
with light and the large dining table comfortably
seats six with ample space for a high chair. |

For
those evenings when you might enjoy being catered
for, the baby/child monitor provided
works between Vine House and the Manor Dining
Room allowing you to relax over dinner..
For convenience, there is a large ground
floor shower room with walk-in shower,
w.c. and wash basin .
Discreetly tucked at the far end of the room is
the utility area with washing machine, clothes
airer, iron and ironing board, hoover etc. (A
rotary washing line is at your disposal located
behind the old stables). |

Upstairs
The
staircase (stairgate available) leads up into the
spacious pretty beamed attic where you will find three
double bedrooms and a bath/shower room. A pine
trunk provides the perfect home for my favourite
tea-pot!!
All the rooms upstairs have wonderful exposed
beams and the landing and bedrooms have natural
floor covering whilst the bathroom has a tiled
floor.
All three rooms are furnished in country style
with built in wardrobes and a chest of drawers so
you can unpack properly, a dressing table and
chair, bedside tables with reading lamps and top
quality,wonderfully
comfortable beds dressed with Egyptian cotton
bedlinen and both firm and soft pillows.
Plus a towel stand for personal towels, and
generously sized towelling bathrobes.
